Berrendo Middle School in Roswell, New Mexico experienced a school shooting on Tuesday, Jan. 14.  According to a  reporter from Fox News, the gunman was only 12 years old and was a student in sixth grade at the middle school. Only two students were injured, and they are expected to recover.

Nobody knows the reason why the student did what he did, nor do they know where he got the gun that he used. Investigators are still searching his house and questioning witnesses, reports Fox News.

Too many events like this one are happening in the United States. Gun laws are a sensitive issue, and many people want them to be enforced. However, not every gun owner misuses his guns. The issue is that some owners are leaving their guns in easily accessible places.

Many of the gunmen involved in school shootings thus far have had deep-seated emotional issues stemming from childhood bullying or mental illnesses. A large number of these individuals claim to have felt hopeless due to their condition or their surroundings. This only magnifies the importance of maintaining anti-bullying policies in schools.

Most people don’t understand how sensitive some topics can be and how easy it is to misinterpret the feelings of other students.
