McIntosh crossing guard David Spatz was struck by a vehicle on Mar. 23 at approximately 7:18 a.m. according to the Peachtree City Police Department, and then taken to Grady Memorial Hospital. The collision was reported at the intersection of Kedron Drive and Fieldhouse Drive. The Peachtree City Police Department’s Collision Reconstruction and Traffic Division conducted a comprehensive investigation over several days, including witness interviews, analysis of physical evidence, and the overall analysis of all conditions present.

Spatz has been recently released from the hospital and continues his recovery at home. Spatz’s wife, Suzanne, asked that the incident be used for a positive change in the walkways to prevent another injury such as lighted signs and lighted walkways, as the crossing guards already wear safety vests.

Over the course of Spatz’s recovery, the McIntosh and Peachtree City community pitched in to share their support through a GoFundMe and a google form provided by the McIntosh Trail.
