This is the first year that McIntosh SkillsUSA, attended the Region 4 Competition. SkillsUSA is a club focused on helping students build career, trade and technical skills for them to use when they graduate and join the workforce.

“This is the first time [in a few years that] McIntosh competed, so it was fun to get the opportunity to compete,” President of SkillsUSA, senior Sadie Cline said.

They participated in the advertising design contest, crime scene investigation pin design and quiz bowl.

There were nine winners in the competition:

First Place Advertising Design: sophomore Lucy Ortiz Madariaga.

First Place Crime Scene Investigation: Team of senior Ruby Marland, senior Sadie Cline and sophomore Cameron Manning.

Second Place Quiz Bowl: Team of sophomore Shree Khasnis, sophomore Saket Sonone, senior Ellie Bednarowski, sophomore Maxfield Smilley and sophomore Landon McDonald.

From Feb. 19-21, the winners of the competition went to the State Leadership and Skills Conference where they competed in crime scene investigation and advertising design.

“We stayed in the Omni Hotel and were able to talk to other Skills teams throughout the competition. Overall, the experience was amazing and I would totally do it again,” Cline said.
