Tomorrow, Oct. 18 and Tuesday, Oct. 21, McIntosh Theater will be performing their one-act play “Medea.” The show will take place in the McIntosh auditorium and and both shows begin at 7 p.m.
“Medea” is a Greek tragedy originally written by Euripides and performed in 431 BCE.

“The show is about a woman Medea and her descent into a vengeance against her ex husband Jason who got married to another behind her back. The show follows her as she becomes obsessed with the vengeance,” sophomore Smith McGuire said. McGuire is casted in the play as Jason.
The Drama department will also be going to compete with other Drama departments around the state in the one-act play state championship on .
“I’m really looking forward [to] seeing all the shows at competition there’s so many good ones, and it’s fun to see other schools’ talent,” McGuire said.
McIntosh’s Drama department worked for a while on setting up this play.
“It took us about a month and a half to get everything set up,” McGuire said.
Sophomore, Zakiya Webb is also performing in the one-act. If she had to choose one word to describe the play, she would choose the word “vengeance.”

“I play a leader of Medea’s inner thoughts,” Webb said.
Webb is a part of the savage chorus, which is another role within the framework of a typical Greek tragedy play.
“I think that the one-act is a fun activity [because] the cast is usually super tight-knit and we [have] become close. Also, competing is extremely fun and it feels nice to have all our hard work go on to more than just performing for McIntosh,” Webb said.
After all of the work that went into this year’s One Act, the play’s cast urges students to come watch the play.
“[Come] see “Medea” [on] Oct. 18 and 21 [at] 7 p.m,” McGuire said.
