On May 3, several students showed up at East Coweta high school to take their SAT with a sign on the door saying that it was canceled due to a network attack, the sign noted that the SAT was rescheduled due to a network issue. Coweta county has released a statement on the cyber attack since. Their students and staff are not allowed on the school wifi due to the issue. Some McIntosh students showed up to take the exam that morning.
“At first I was kind of upset about it being cancelled because I wouldn’t get my score back in time to see if I should take the June SAT or not if I didn’t get the score I wanted. So, that mean’t I would have to automatically sign up for the June SAT even if I got my target score,” junior River Boyle said.
This led to the SAT being rescheduled to May 18, the Sunday after the AP Psychology and AP Physics 1 exams.
“I’m a little disappointed about it being right after exams because it is the day after my psychology exam and I’m gonna have to juggle studying for my four other AP exams and my SAT,” Boyle said.
However, this does give more time for students to study for their SAT as this delay gives the students an extra two weeks for studying.
“Now looking at it though I’m not as upset because it will give me more time to study and there’s not really anything I can do about it in the first place, so I’m just trying to look at it positively,” Boyle said.
