The sophomore class at McIntosh High School received new Chromebooks during their world history class on Aug. 23, and sophomores seemed to have a mixed reaction towards them. Some students have reported that the Chromebooks are worse and unnecessary, while other students like the new Chromebooks and think that it was time for new ones.

“I feel like the new Chromebooks were a downgrade. We don’t really need them either, my old one worked fine. The new Chromebook’s battery doesn’t last at all,” sophomore Maggie Johnston said.

Others don’t like them for the way they appear. When the Chromebooks were distributed, they came with a new case and charger. The Chromebook case is different since it is clear and doesn’t have a compartment to put things into like the previous version did. While the technology is new, students have noted it’s not great.

“I feel like the new Chromebooks are too bulky and the screens are worse quality,” sophomore LaQuan Shuler said.

While some say that the Chromebooks have been “downgraded” and are “worse quality,” others believe that the new Chromebooks are better than their previous Chromebooks.

“For me, my new Chromebooks charges way better than my old one,” sophomore Bella Frolio said.
