On Thursday, Sept. 5, J.C. Booth Middle School Principal Shane Ratliff emailed parents about a situation that took place on a bus route that afternoon.
The conversation between two students was about the shooting at Apalachee High School in Winder, Georgia, on Wednesday, Sept. 4.
“Another student on the bus overheard the conversation, recorded it, and brought it to our attention,” Ratliff wrote.
According to that letter, the SRO and admin “investigated the situation and both students have been disciplined appropriately according to Fayette County Public Schools Code of Conduct.”
NBC News is reporting that other schools across the state are also handling threats made by students, and the Georgia Bureau of Investigation posted to social media platform X: “This is a very difficult time for students & parents and many are afraid. You’ve likely seen reports of incidents of other students making threats today at schools around GA. In each of these incidents, police took charges & made arrests as we take each matter seriously.”
