On Wednesday, Sept. 4, 2024, a mass shooting took place at Apalachee High School in Winder, Georgia, which is ninety minutes northeast of Peachtree City. Washington Post reports that “Wednesday’s shooting was the deadliest at a U.S. school in more than a year and marks Georgia’s first fatal school shooting since at least 1999.”
There were four victims in total. Two fourteen-year-olds, Mason Schermerhorn and Christian Angulo; and two math teachers, Christina Irimie and Richard Aspinwall.
According to NBC News, nine others were injured.
The Washington Post reported at 5:04 this afternoon that the suspect has been charged with four felony counts of murder after he allegedly killed the victims.
