On Thursday, Feb. 29, 2024, the ABC’s of McIntosh is a scholarship fundraiser event sponsored by the MHS Chiefs Foundation Inc (501c3). The event is made up of a silent art auction and the spelling bee, made up of teams of celebrities, teachers and a student.
The silent art auction starts at 6 p.m. in the McIntosh auditorium lobby and will feature more than 20 works of art created by McIntosh students. Two awards will be given for the art: Best in Show and People’s Choice. During that time, the McIntosh Fine Arts Department will be providing entertainment with singers and musicians in the auditorium lobby.
The Spelling Bee begins at 7 p.m. in the McIntosh auditorium with an entry cost of $5. The competition features eight teams made up of a celebrity, a faculty member and a student, chosen by the teacher. The prize for winning is $100 each for both the faculty member and student along with $100 to the celebrity’s choice of charity.

- Team Devin: Super Bowl winning Indianapolis Colts and Auburn wide receiver Devin Aromashodu, Head Football Coach Derek Smith and Hollis Davidson III, Chiefs Football starting wide receiver
- Team Jared: “Ant-Man and the Wasp” & “Guardians of the Galaxy” Actor Jared Leland Gore, AP Statistics teacher Arthur Walton and Sage Shah, President of the Debate Team
- Team Manny: Greater Georgia Air Show past Board of Director Brigadier General (ret) & MHS Hall of Fame inductee Emmanuel Haldopoulos, Graphic Arts teacher Lauren Bozone and Anna Fortner, freshman phenom
- Team Steven: Grammy winning international opera singer & voice over artist Steven Humes, Drama teacher Ken Buswell and Thespian Society Co-President Max Thompson
- Team Nichole: Peachtree School of Dance owner/CEO & MHS Hall of Fame inductee Nichole Martin, Journalism teacher Shanon Woolf and Nyla Kërr, MHS Trail staff writer
- Team Mistral: Former NFL Minnesota Vikings and University of South Florida safety Mistral Raymond, Assistant Principal/Athletic Director Leon Hammond and Brooklyn Allen, Competitive Cheerleader and Track Athlete
- Team Travis: Super Bowl winning Baltimore Ravens and University of Florida wide receiver Travis Taylor, AP Chemistry teacher & Assistant Football Coach Rick Fontaine and Maddox Dykeman, Chiefs Football defensive end
