What is happening on the McIntosh campus this week

Upcoming AP/Electives Night

McIntosh is holding AP and electives night on Feb. 1, 6:30pm-8pm, for current freshmen, sophomores and juniors  and their parents to learn more about elective classes offered, pathways and AP course offerings.

Eighth graders are encouraged to attend the high school general information session in the auditorium at 6 p.m.
It is also to share information about courses with eighth graders in the auditorium at 6pm-6:30pm.

AP and elective teachers will be in their classrooms to answer questions parents and students may have. 

The 2024 Legend yearbook staf

The Legend yearbook is on sale for $110, but the price will go up to $125 on Jan. 27.  Only 289 2024 yearbooks are left for sale; the Legend yearbook has sold out every year since 2018.

The Legend yearbook staff earned a GSPA overall Superior rating, nine All-Georgia awards, and 15 Superior ratings for vol. 42, “Just Ask,” which earned an All-Georgia Award for its theme development. The staff’s other All-Georgia awards were: Special Interest Yearbook Story, Feature Photography, Yearbook Story, Photo Essay, Social Media Story, Social Media Breaking News, Social Justice Story, Health Reporting and Environmental Reporting.

Chiefettes place first at Five-Star Invitational

The Chiefettes placed first at the Heritage Five-Star Invitational on Saturday Jan. 20. The competition was at Heritage High School in Conyers, Georgia.

“We competed [in] pom and jazz dances and we won first place for both,” said freshman Caroline Moses. “I can’t wait for state [competitions] so we can show up and show out,” Moses said.

Washington DC close up

The 2025 close up trip his planned and interested students can attend an interest meeting in the media center on February 5 at 6:00 pm.

The trip takes place from January 16 to January 22, 2025.

Prom 2024: Great Gatsby

The McIntosh 2024 Prom theme has been announced on the McIntosh student government Instagram. The theme is the Great Gatsby, based on the 1925 novel published by F. Scott Fitzgerald, which was about love, wealth and corruption of the American dream. 

Prom will take place on April 20 at the Fox Theatre in Atlanta. More details will be released as the date nears.

Multimedia editor Luke Soule is a senior at McIntosh High School and has returned for his second year on the McIntosh Trail. Soule received an all-georgia and superior award during his first year on the staff as a writer and specializes in writing about film, music and environmental issues. He is also an editor for the Mischief Literary Magazine. Soule enjoys writing poetry and stories and has written multiple screenplays. Music and film are big parts of Soule’s life. He taught himself to play guitar and currently takes music theory and piano lessons. His favorite artists are Death Grips, Gregory Alan Isakov and Hugh Masekela. He also began writing screenplays at the age of 13. His favorite movies are The Master, Swiss Army Man and Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. He frequently volunteers at the Fayette Humane Society and Clothes Less Traveled.
