On Friday, Jan. 12, the chorus spent their study hall singing for people who received singing valentines while eating their lunch. Each class was split into several groups and they sang one of their assigned songs: “Just the Way You Are” or “Count on Me” by Bruno Mars.

Some of the chorus students were interviewed before hand and shared what they thought the experience would be like.

“I’ve never done singing valentines before and I’m really nervous, but I really hope they will go okay and I’m able to bring joy to those I end up singing to,” said freshman chorus student Mina Basu.

Those singing were encouraged to wear Valentine’s Day themed clothing and accessories. During their study hall periods, groups from all classes met in the chorus room and worked together to find the recipients of the valentines. Groups held signs with people’s names on them so everyone knew who the valentine was for. More advanced classes sang a few this week to encourage people to buy them. Each valentine costed two dollars. Payment was made through Paypal or Venmo.

“I’m excited to send them to people and embarrass them. It will make me laugh to hear about it later.” said freshman Josie Berkoben.
