McIntosh’s new mock trial team competed at the regional competition for the first time this past Saturday Jan. 29. Led by sponsor Ms. Sara Knight and attorney coach Joseph Knight, McIntosh students argued the case “Harper Bryson v. Joey Cobb,” a civil lawsuit seeking compensation for an allegedly malicious baseball concussion incident. McIntosh sent one plaintiff team and one defense team to face other schools at Henry County Superior Court where the students’ performance was judged by panels of local attorneys.

McIntosh garnered some success at their first competition, with Senior Taylor Bell and Junior McKay Moore earning “Outstanding Witness” awards and Junior Samuel Ellis earning an “Outstanding Attorney” award. Mock Trial president Junior Ryan Ward said, “For going into this somewhat blind, the team performed excellently, and I look forward to an even more successful year in 2018.”
