Ms. Shery Kearney added a new instructional feature to her class for her AP Lang students this semester. Every Monday her students participate in Meditation Monday, a period of time at the beginning of class where students learn a new way to think about the things around them and to meditate. Most of the meditations students have done so far this semester have involved an audio recording of a guided meditation and some sort of dried fruit or chocolate.
Students are quiet during this time and examine their dried fruit or chocolate carefully before eating it and focusing on the taste. Then, they follow the directions from the guided meditation.
“Meditation Monday’s offer a relaxing start to the AP students hectic week,” said junior Brianna Griffin, a student in Ms. Kearney’s zero period class.
