Mr. Arthur Walton’s math class participated in an experiment in which they studied exponential decay by using M&Ms. In the experiment, students opened a bag of M&Ms, dumped them out, and ate all the ones with the “m” on top. The students repeated this process until all the M&Ms were gone.

Mr. Walton said, “The purpose of the lab was to teach students about real life situations on exponential decay by using logarithms and the transformations of them.”

Sophomore Samantha Schmid said, “I enjoyed being able to eat the M&Ms.”

Junior George Watmore said, “I like using real-life situations in order to learn math because it helps me further understand the topic.”
