The National Honor Society held its semester meeting this past Wednesday. Senior officers Alex Tchaykov & Bo (Kate) Yun led the morning meeting and treated members to a donut breakfast. NHS also had an afternoon meeting. Both meetings went over planned activities and requirements for the semester.

NHS seniors have no mandatory service hours requirement for second semester, but they are encouraged to volunteer when possible.

Juniors are required to complete 10 hours of community service. The hour sheets can be found on the McIntosh website under “Clubs and Organizations” or in Mrs. Walls’ room 201.

For students interested in becoming an NHS officer for the 2015-16 school year, the application is due Friday, Feb. 13. Interested members can pick up an informational half sheet from Mrs. Walls.
NHS members who received a probation notice must attend the Joseph Sams School fundraiser event on Saturday, May 16. If they are unable to attend the event, they must make their own donation of 10 paper products for Sams School and 10 service hours. A member on probation will NOT be eligible for the NHS cord, and this policy applies to seniors as well.
Another service event, Fayette Care Clinic’s fundraiser dance, will take place on Friday, March 27 starting at 7:00 p.m. Fayette Care Clinic is a clinic that provides medical care for people without insurance or little to no income. They need six to seven volunteers for the event, and interested volunteers should email Kate Yun at [email protected] by the end of February.
