MHS takes part in the Close Up Washington D.C. Trip

Elizabeth Quarles
MHS participates in the yearly field trip to our nation’s capital with the Close Up Foundation. Trip participants will spend time with our 3rd district representative, Lynn Westmoreland, and with one or two senators. They will also participate in hands-on workshops and symposiums with other students from around the world who team up with the Close UP Foundation.
Anyone in 10th through 12th grade is eligible for the trip. The field trip will last from January 18 to January 23, 2015, which will be Martin Luther King, Jr., Holiday weekend. As a result, students will only miss four days of school. The cost is $1,612, which pays for round trip airfare, hotel costs, majority of food costs, transportation costs, and program costs. The majority of students can earn this money through fundraising, such as the Powder Puff game, Close Up’s main fundraiser, which will be held next Wednesday.
Students interested in joining should submit the first payment of $200.00 to Mrs. Edenfield by Friday September 12. The second deposit of $200.00 is due Monday October 15, and the full price should be made by December 1. Visit Mrs. Edenfield if you have questions.
