People who are currently taking a foreign language have the upcoming opportunity to take a test that will rank them among thousands of other students taking that same test. Every spring, this nationally-administered exam  tests how well students know the language they’re studying.

Although the test costs $7, relatively high scores on the test can  impress colleges, open students up for contests or prepare them for further studying of the language in AP courses. While the test is optional for the majority of foreign language classes, the AP Spanish class is required to take the test.

AP Spanish teacher Mr. Zamore said, “The National Spanish Exam is committed to providing teachers with assessment tools and offering students opportunities to practice their language skills and know their Spanish language proficiency rating through taking the exam. It really is a great help for students.”

The National Foreign Language exams can allow students to see how well they have learned a foreign language and can further advance their study of that language.
