“Peaches Finest” Twitter page creates scandal on social media

Over Christmas break a Twitter page appeared called “Peaches Finest.” The bio read, “rating girls since ’14. 10-hot, 1-not.”

The page did exactly what the bio said: it rated Peachtree City girls on a scale of 1-10, often making comments about the girls as well, like that they wear too much make-up or had an undesirable boyfriend. The page included girls from both Starr’s Mill and McIntosh and could undoubtedly be considered bullying. The account went so far as to even point at that one girl could not get into a good college.

On January 9, another anonymous account tweeted to Peaches Finest that the site was apparently listed on a bullying website that included an IP address. The next day Peaches finest had deleted all of their tweets and had posted one picture that said, “Super sorry, xoxo Love, Peaches Finest.” They changed this picture to their Twitter picture and changed the name to “Im sorry” and the bio to “Being sorry since ’14.”

At the peak of the account, they had garnered almost 200 followers, about a third of them girls and a fair amount of graduates; however, most McIntosh students expressed negative thoughts about the account.

There is still no knowledge on who created the account, although there are speculations that it was a graduate as the account was only open for the time that graduates were home over the holidays.

Peachtree City has had their fair share of “cyber-bullying” scandals. Two years ago, another twitter account came out called the Peachtree City Burn Book, that just included snide comments about individual girls and guys. Prior to that, middle school students had created a website that rated fellow classmates, but the website was short lived after a friend of the student revealed the owner of the website.
