Model U.N prepares for first conference
The McIntosh Model U.N team is preparing for a conference. Started approximately four years ago with Mrs. Hansen as the coach, the team has been to many conferences each year where they have competed for awards as they learned about international affairs. In Model U.N., schools representing nations come together to present issues and collaborate on solutions. Schools can win awards for most outstanding delegation, best position paper or most honorable delegate.
On October 14 and 15, the team will meet at Georgia Tech for a two-day conference, and each person will have his or her own committee and topics. At this conference, McIntosh will be representing the nations of the Netherlands and Bolivia. In past years, McIntosh had enough team members to represent only one country, but due to the increase in members this year, they are able to represent two countries.
Senior Mathew Murray, a returning member of the Model U.N team, said, “The Model U.N is an exciting and unique experience where you get to work with your peers to solve world problems prevalent to today.”
McIntosh won third place overall at the S.U.S.M.U.N. conference two years ago, and its past graduated members have also won individual awards.
