J.K Rowling’s secret book grabs Potter fans
To all the Harry Potter fans out there, perhaps hold your wands before reading this. J.K Rowling, under her pseudonym Robert Galbraith, recently published her crime novel “The Cuckoo’s Calling” on Amazon. It hit No. 1 on the New York Times’ best-seller list.
According to CNN.com, Rowling used this pseudonym to protect her identity from the pressure of expectation but says that publishing this book under her pseudonym has given her a “liberating experience.”
Many Harry Potter fans at McIntosh are excited to read the new book after the leak that the real author is Rowling. Senior Micaela Nylund said, “Knowing that the book is now actually written by Rowling and that it’s a crime novel, which I love, I want to read it. I love all the Harry Potter books. My bathroom is Harry Potter themed; my trashcan is a cauldron.”
Many critics at CNN.com claim that the book has nothing to do with the past successful series Rowling created, but the book’s setting of Devon, England, and the characters in the crime novel resemble “Harry Potter’s” setting and characters. This novel might be the closest thing to an 8th Potter book that we’re ever going to get.
