“Buckwild” star Shain Gandee, 21, was found dead, along with two other bodies, in a Ford Bronco at the end of a long dirt road in Sissonville, Ky.
The three were last seen at a local bar in Sissonville, according to TMZ. They were also reported leaving the bar intoxicated and speaking about going four-wheeling. TMZ reported Gandee was found the morning after his death along with his uncle, David Gandee, and Donald Robert Myers, another Sissonville area resident.
TMZ released the autopsy report identifying accidental carbon monoxide poisoning as the cause of death.
MTV released a statement about Gandee: “We are shocked and saddened by the terrible news about Shain Gandee, and those involved in this tragic incident. We are waiting for more information but at this time, our main concern is for the Gandee family and their friends. Our thoughts and prayers are with them. Shain had a magnetic personality, with a passion for life that touched everyone he met and we will miss him dearly.”
Some of Gandee’s castmates took to social media to express their feelings.
Cast member Ashley Whitt tweeted, “RIP Shain Gandee. You were the most amazing person I’ve ever known. I know you will be watching over …” “Buckwild” star Katie Saria added: “Thanks everyone for your condolences. We appreciate it. I guess what you do is pray.”
“Buckwild” premiered on MTV in January and follows nine friends in Sissonville and Charleston, West Virginia.Shain, nicknamed “Gandee Candy” by fans, was a breakout star of the show, which was filmed last year, mostly around Sissonville and Charleston. Many of its rowdy exploits were his idea.
