Over the summer, McIntosh sophomores Lynn Oh and Parishey Khan created a nonprofit organization called Small Essentials. This nonprofit aims to raise money so they can provide hygienic products and safety kits for homeless persons in Atlanta.

“Parishey and I started Small Essentials as just a thought over the summer. We’ve always had an interest in volunteering, but we just wanted to start something that could be flexible for both of us,” Oh said.

Khan explains what Small Essentials does.

“We provide small essentials like feminine products, cleaning supplies, first aid and more things that the homeless could find useful,” Khan said.

Once a month, the Small Essentials board meets up to discuss multiple topics.

“We discuss fund raising ideas, how to attract attention to our cause, me and Lynn assign tasks for our board members,” Khan said.

Khan explains the steps people can take to support Small Essentials.

“People can support by donating to our GoFundMe and spreading the news about it. Once it gets a bit bigger people can also volunteer and join as a member,” Khan said.

Those who want to help raise money, the Small Essentials website has been provided below.
