McIntosh senior and wrestling team captain Brooks White is a small business owner of his clothing line, Saintsorrow. White was 15 years old when he first began working on his business and since then, six volumes of clothing have been released with the seventh being in the works.

This latest volume is expected to drop in just a few days, with the release expected on February 3. White runs an active Instagram page that’s been up since February of 2024, and it advertises his clothing brand as grungy street wear for everyone and often depicts many Christian graphics.

“I do make Christian-based stuff, but I mixed it in with the street wear grunge kind of aesthetic. I feel like as a Christian it’s my responsibility to put out my faith one way or another with my talents and my creativity for t- shirt making,” White said.

During the early stages of Saintsorrow, originally the brand name was going to be Saintseraphim, “Seraphim is this angel with a bunch of eyes. Its like the scary-looking one,” White said.

White decided to roll with Saintsorrow, however because of its cohesivity to the brand and graphics.

“I think Saintsorrow matches my graphics perfectly, because ‘saint’ is like the religious part of my brand, and then ‘sorrow’ would be the dark graphics,” White said.

White’s handpicks his brand aesthetic from the final book of the New Testament: Revelations, which he describes as “the darker side of the Bible.”

Saintsorrow is not only a hobby, but one of White’s passions which he balances on top of wrestling and school.

“It’s become a passive thing I work on any time I have free time, and I genuinely enjoy doing it. It’s kind of an add on to everything I got going on,” White said .

While also designing graphics, White spends his free time at wrestling practice every week day after school.

“We’ll practice for two hours but usually I’ll stay for 30 minutes afterward, usually we have meets on Saturday,” White said.

By doing research to make running a small business easier for a busy high school student, White uses a third party manufacturers to pack and ship sold items.

“I don’t handle any of the products myself, I don’t even touch their orders,” he said.

McIntosh senior Matthew Wolf’s personal favorite purchase from Saintsorrow is his “Saint Tristesse,” or HEALS THE BROKENHEARTED hoodie.

“It’s super high quality and I like the graphic on the back,” Wolf said.

White’s last release is volume six of his collection which consists of some New Testament inspired items such as a Luke 10:19 sweater and a John 3:17 T-shirt, as well as, an Old Testament inspired Isaiah 40:8 hoodie and matching T-shirt. His Instagram page also features some friends and classmates who help advertise his graphics. Senior Ethan Thompson has been posted numerous times, often posing in White’s graphic tees such as the VII tee, the KILL THE TV AND BE FREE tee, and the ROSE EMPYREAN jacket.

“I think my favorite is probably the VII shirt. Just because it’s cropped nicely and the design on it is really unique,” Thompson said.

Senior Graiden Garcia is also featured wearing Saintsorrow graphic hoodies such as the YOUR HEART IS HEAVY hoodie, DARKNESS AT THE CRUCIFICTION hoodie, and the HEALS THE BROKENHEARTED hoodie.

“My favorite item I’ve worn is the heals the brokenhearted hoodie. It’s my favorite because I like the color wash of it, its comfortable and it has one of my favorite bible verses on it,” said Garcia.

White’s original business name for what is now known as Saintsorrow was originally AI APPAREL ATL which used AI to generate designs for his brand, however, the use of AI only lasted for up to vol.3.

“I thought AI was going to be the future of art, so I started my brand using AI art, but after volume three I’ve grown to hate AI art,” White said.

AI’s “sloppy,” qualities and the lack of human creativity that comes out of it has shifted White’s perspective on the topic.

“As a graphic designer I’ve grown to appreciate what makes art actually art, and that’s the thought that goes behind it, which would require a human brain. All of my designs I make from volume three and on will always be human made,” White said.

White’s personal favorite item off his shop is the ADDICTED TO OXYTOCIN hoodie.

“I love the typography, the colors and the graphics,” said White. The graphics for ADDICTED TO OXYTOCIN were originally found off a stock website which White incorporates into one and then filled in with color.

“The design process is probably why I love it so much,” said White.

Soon to be released Vol. 7 Jeans from @saintsorrowclothing on Instagram, and used with permission from Brooks White.

For supporters of Saintsorrow, it’s to be expected that we will see more graphics from White in the future.  “I plan on pursuing Saintsorrow all throughout college, it’s a hobby that I hope can one day become a full time job,” said White.

Recently, White has been sharing snippets of some unreleased jeans for volume seven. These will be the first ever jeans to come out of the Saintsorrow collection. With new items opening new design opportunities, supporters are anticipating the growth to come from White’s brand. Earlier this month, White shared unreleased jeans on his Instagram page available in three colors: black, blue and a slightly darker blue with a yellow wash. The jeans are loose fit and washed with an extra outseam running down the middle front pant legs.

“I’ve always been proud of the fact that I own something that can hopefully one day be bigger than me. I don’t care for my name to be associated with the brand, but for the brand to have a name for itself, and so I’m proud that I think I’ve created something with the potential of that,” said White.
