August Moss is a McIntosh Trail first year staffer. Her accomplishments include winning Best of SNO for her articles “Wild ride” and “It felt like the whole country knew”.
Q: What was your contribution to McIntosh High School?
A: “The walls of McIntosh High School will not personally remember me. I am not in the hall of fame, broken any records, or graffitied my way into remembrance. I have impacted the students of McIntosh, teachers, and councillors. I know personally from what friends have told me, I have created change within their lives. Whether it was bringing an extra energy drink to share, a snack, or just a compliment to brighten someones day, I have tried to make my mark in smaller ways. I hope I will be remembered as the girl who walked through the halls one morning, handing out roses to students and faculty, just because I could.”
Q: How have you made the Trail a better program? What was your contribution?
A: “For the Trail, I have won a couple of awards in the year I have been involved, but I still don’t think that is really where I made things better. I have made the people around me laugh, contributed to others stories, wanted to go out of my way to engage with things that excite those around me. Joining the Trail, I had a selfish goal. I wanted to be able to tell my own story to change the tide of my own life, I did that, but I was also shown how my stories are only apart of the conversation. By speaking my mind, I have had the honor of engaging with people who I didn’t know had similar experiences to me.”
Q: What college do you plan on attending, and what will your major studies be?
A: “I am attending Oglethorpe University and triple majoring in communications, theater, and education.”
Q: What is your favorite memory from your years on the Trail staff?
A: “My favorite memory on the Trail staff is the car ride I spent with soon to be Editor in Chief Grace Lovejoy, and Nyla Kerr, being unable to stop laughing at a trashack on the side of the road after a long day at GSPA.”
Q: What are you proudest of, in your time with the Trail?
A: “I am the most proud of the writers around me I have seen grow. The Trail struggled for a minute, but every single talented and creative writer on staff worked to push it to what it is now. They make me more proud than I could ever be of myself.”
Q: What words of wisdom do you have for the upcoming editors and staff?
A: “Write as much as you can. Your words are the world.”
