McIntosh High School’s Math Team recently demonstrated what they could really do at the RESA Math Tournament.
According to Christopher Flournoy, the team’s coach, the team placed first in Division III (large schools) at Griffin RESA.
The competition consists of multiple different math topics such as Algebra, Pre-Calculus and Geometry. The individual with the most problems answered correctly wins the competition.
Three McIntosh math competitors placed in the competition. Freshman Sara Marsh placed third in geometry. Harsh Singh placed third individually overall and Vedita Sawhney placed first overall. Other team members were Patrick Ogle, Nate Miller and Roshan Kolachina.
Freshman Sara Marsh placed third in the competition.
“[My long term goals are] to keep doing well in math competitions, to learn more and improve my skills,” Marsh said.
There are many ways to prepare before the competition.
“[I prepare by] reviewing the subject topic that the competition is on,” Marsh said.
Senior Vedita Sawhney also has a similar strategy for preparing before a competition.
“I practice problems over and over until I feel confident,” Sawhney said.
