Homecoming Court

This year Homecoming was like no other. We had a crazy homecoming this year with the COVID situation and most people didn’t even believe we could have a Homecoming this year. Though we have had to postpone the annual dance we still had a football game. The Homecoming Court this year was full of very different people. All sorts of people rose above and beyond to run this year.
The crowd was like none other as they cheered their football team on. They roared as their classmates walked down the field in their gorgeous dresses and striking suits. As they walked down the football field, some senior finalists made fun poses or did a handshake with their escort and one pair brought back the dab! This made the audience laugh and it was clear we had some crowd favorites. This year was very interesting and our winners’ smiles and looks of shock made the night even better.
The Homecoming Court Finalists this year were freshmen Mason Green and Ava Thompson for Lord and Lady, sophomores Arthur Windsor and Emily Rockey for Duke and Duchess, juniors Alistair Plotnick and Lexi Phillips for Prince and Princess, and seniors Harrison Baro and Elizabeth Wilson for our 2020 Homecoming King and Queen.
Homecoming King, Baro, said, “Being named Homecoming King was such a surprise. This was my first time being on the court and I really didn’t expect to win. I was so shocked that I won, but that quickly gave way to elation and happiness. It felt very fulfilling to be crowned Homecoming King!”
Wilson, our Homecoming Queen was dressed in a gorgeous red dress and she managed to conduct the marching band while dressed up. Wilson said, “I was pleasantly surprised. I did not nominate myself, so to make it to the finalists was really unexpected.” One question the nominees were asked was ‘What are 5 things you must do to keep this position’ and the answers were quite fun. Wilson stated, “Wear the crown every day of the week, sit in a throne, rule the kingdom, get some servants, and not take anything too seriously.” This is a very fun way to take this question.
Our court this year was unique and stands out from past years. All the nominees were dressed fantastically and they were all so different. It was a night to remember! Wilson told us five things that she has to do in order to keep this position, “wear the crown every day of the week, sit in a throne, rule the kingdom, get some servants, and not take anything too seriously.”
