Ten things to do while stuck at home during quarantine
Mar 30, 2020
Health officials, as well as government officials, have encouraged people to stay home to avoid further spreading the coronavirus at this time. While staying home for weeks doesn’t exactly sound appealing, self-quarantining is what everyone should be doing, regardless of their age. With that being said, self-quarantining doesn’t mean constant boredom and should be seen as an opportunity to discover new fun and activities. That’s why I’ve come up with this list of ten things to do while you’re stuck at home during self-quarantine:
1. Do a puzzle. You have your standard puzzles, crossword puzzles, and even Rubik’s cubes. Your choice!
2. Baking. You can make cookies, cakes, brownies, you name it. And afterward, you have all the dishes to keep you busy for a little bit longer.
3. Get out your instrument and practice. Just try not to bother your neighbors, who are also just as bored at home as you are.
4. Learn a foreign language. There’s definitely an app for that. (Duolingo, Babbel, and Rosetta Stone to name a few.)
5. Organize your wardrobe. Try on all your clothes and decide what stays and what goes. Ask yourself “what do I wear every week?” and “what have I not worn in years?”
6. Video chat with your friends and family. Don’t be hesitant to pick up a device and video chat with distant family and friends.
7. Try some at-home workouts. There are workout apps and workout videos on YouTube. Some top-rated workout apps include Home Workout by developer Abishkking Limited, 7 Minute Workout: Fitness App by developer Fast Builder Limited, and Workout for Women: Fitness App by developer Fast Builder Limited. Some workout-related YouTube channels are The Fitness Marshall, which is a dance workout channel, Yoga with Adrienne, and HASfit.
8. Write. Write some poetry, short stories, your own novel, or even just start by writing down your feelings.
9. Camp out in the living room. A campout with your quarantined household buddies is a good way to keep busy as well as spend time with your loved ones. Get out all the blankets, popcorn, and your favorite movies.
10. Make some quarantine-related TikToks. I think it’s especially important to find things to laugh at during this tough time and all those quarantine TikToks floating around help with that.
Staying home may not sound like fun to everyone, especially considering the fact it means you have to stay home and not hang out with your friends for weeks. However, staying home is the responsible thing to do that can really save lives. It’s important that everyone do their part by staying home and properly educating themselves, considering the amount of misinformation that goes around.
