Humans of McIntosh: Neda Amini

Meghan Jaczko, Staff Writer

My family is from Iran. I was born here and my parents were born in Iran. They went to college there mostly and they grew up there. My dad moved here first and then he went to college here and then he went back to Iran. I’m not really sure at what point the dating and marriage happened, but he brought my mom back here. And they’ve lived here for 16ish or 17ish years. We usually visit Iran every year or every other year, and we visit my dad’s family mostly because most of his side lives there. And we’ve only visited historical sites one year we went, and we visited Persepolis, which is like really pretty. And then also there’s really pretty mountains there. There’s more freedom in the US, for sure. And we’re worse drivers – we suck at driving. We’re good drivers here, but bad drivers there. So like if you go on a highway, they don’t bother to repaint the lines because no one pays attention; you can have a car like one inch away from you – and it’ll be fine. That’s why we’re good drivers here because we know how to get out of situations. There’s a lot more pollution there, but I’ve only been in the city.
