Key Club helps children with Yuda bands
Mar 20, 2017
The Key Club has sold Yuda bands for $7 each this year to help the children in Africa who struggle with poverty, and the project was finished on Friday, March 16. This year, the club is sponsoring the student Christian Tanake Dete.
The name for the project came from the Spanish word “ayuda,” which means help. Every band spreads the message: “Wear a band. Change a life.”
Junior Arik Li said, “This fundraiser is different from others in that the Key Club makes no money off of them. All seven dollars goes toward the organization so that the student in Zimbabwe can learn and so that the worker in Guatemala who makes the bands is paid a fair and living wage. It was a pleasure selling and buying them knowing that we were helping others without profit.”
