Students participate in Pulsera Project sales

SeKoixa Gonzalez, Staff Writer

The Pulsera Project is a non-profit organization that helps Latin Americans, such as Nicaraguans and Guatemalans, earn a livable income by having students and volunteers sell handmade crafts created by the Latin American workers.

In Nicaragua, many parents of families work at modern day sweatshops, working as much as 16 hours a day and earning only a small wage on which they can barely survive. These families do not have a way to watch their children or pay for their school. As a result, often only one family member can work and the other one must stay home.

Students sold the bracelets and bags during Foreign Language Week. The bracelets were $5 and the bags were $10.
