A few weeks ago, a number of students along with teacher Ms. Laurette Edenfield traveled to the District of Columbia for the annual Closeup trip  to see the Smithsonian, the White House, and Capitol Hill.  One of the highlights of the closeup trip might have come when the students had the chance to tour Capitol Hill and personally meet their state senators.

Among the senators present was David Perdue, the first cousin of former governor Sonny Perdue.  While the students were there, they got a selfie with Senator Perdue and got to learn more about our nation’s political system.

Senior Jay Booras recapped the trip. He said, “Close up was the best experience of my life.  I strongly encourage anyone who is considering to go on the trip, to actually go.  You learn so much in a week.  I’m glad I went.”
