The Environmental Club held their first recycling of the year last Sept.10. The club decided to recycle the whole school at once on that day to prevent overflowing bins at the next recycling.
Over 15 people showed up, both new members and old, for an afternoon of recycling. The afternoon started with a meeting in Ms. Barge’s room to enjoy homemade brownies and to pay club dues. After enjoying their snacks, the members split up to conquer the paper and plastic of the school’s recycling bins.
Sophomore co-vice president, Radhika Sharma said, “ The meeting went really well. We had a lot of members who seemed eager to start recycling. However, the amount of paper and plastic we had to recycle was a little overwhelming.”
Junior co-president, Joie Zhou said, “ Our first recycling was very productive and fun. We were so happy to have many members come save the environment. We look forward to each recycling day to come.”
Senior co-president, Laura Wu said, “Even though it was a little chaotic, it went really well, and we got a lot of recycling done.”
