Twice a year, the Georgia Singers Company puts on a musical. They have a production in the spring and one in the fall. This year’s fall musical is “High School Musical 2.”

Many students from McIntosh had auditioned in August to perform in front of a live audience eight times in November. Those students are freshmen Emma Skaggs, Iain Hemenway, Ava Whiteley, Clayton (Clay) Lawhead, Sydney Knudson, Melissa (Missy) Mcallister, Diana Avina and Cymmone Yancey.

Emma Skaggs is a lead role as Gabriella Montez. In her most recent production, “The Pajama Game,” she was a supporting role of Mae, a pajama factory girl. When she first received news about getting her first lead role, she changed her Instagram photo to Gabriella Montez. She said, “Ava dared me to do it.”

Iain Hemenway is a lead role as Troy Bolton. In his previous production, “The Pajama Game,”  he was cast the supporting role of Max, a pajama salesman. He said that he hopes the crowd will be greater turnout than during his last production.

Ava Whiteley is a lead role as Taylor McKessy. In her most recent production, “The Pajama Game,” she was a supporting role of Poopsie, a pajama factory girl. She said, “I’m so excited our musical squad is back together.”

Clayton (Clay) Lawhead is lead role as Ryan Evans. As a freshman in high school he said that he would like to continue doing musicals outside and inside school. He said, “To be honest, [he does it to get] Thespian points.” There is a Thespian Society at McIntosh High. Each year they go on a trip and compete in acting competitions.

Sydney Knudson is lead role as Sharpay Evans. This is her first lead role. She was previously a crew member back stage of “The Pajama Game.” This being her first leading role she said, “I was bribed. Just kidding.” She is excited to get on stage and perform just like her big sister McKenzie Knudson.

Melissa (Missy) Mcallister is a lead role as Kelsi Nielson. This is her first lead role. She was previously in the production of “The Pajama Game” as Carmen, a factory girl. She said, “[I auditioned] because it seemed like it would be really fun and I like the movie.” This is her fifth production with the Georgia Singers Company.

Diana Avina is a lead role as Jackie Scott. In her most recent production, “The Pajama Game,” she was a factory girl. She said, “I don’t know why I auditioned, I  just auditioned to audition.” This is also her first lead role.

Cymmone Yancey is a supporting role as Blossom, a Sharpette. In her previous production, “The Pajama Game,” she was Rita, a factory girl. She auditioned because it’s a hobby of hers and just love musicals. This is her third production with the Georgia Singers Company.
