The Clemson Declamation contest begins October 18 and McIntosh is beginning preparations for the contest.

Now that students have begun to settle in to the day to day activities of an MHS school day, they can now not only see each upcoming weekend, but also see the well renowned declamation contest held at the University of Clemson in South Carolina.  The Clemson declamation contest is a contest much like that of a poetry recitation contest, except that participants recite poetry in a language that they are currently learning.

Mrs. Brooke Lloyd, organizer of the contest for McIntosh, said, “The Clemson Declamation Contest provides students the opportunity to demonstrate their language skills in a university setting before a panel of experts.  McIntosh students always perform extremely well, and we have high expectations for this year’s participants.”

Also, a competitor from last year, sophomore Jacob Mewborn said, “Waking up early is the hardest part, but getting to be with people you know all day in a fun competition makes it worth while.”
