Multicultural Club celebrates Mardi Gras
The Multicultural Club gathered to celebrate Mardi Gras on February 27. While listening to Cajun music, members of the club shared New Orleans styled food like gumbo and traditional Mardi Gras food such as King Cake.
The students at the meeting watched videos explaining the history of Mardi Gras. The videos also showed modern celebrations and parades in New Orleans during the Mardi Gras season.
Junior Gianna Leonard said, “The Mardi Gras food and videos at the multicultural club gave us a greater understanding of the culture in New Orleans.”
The students who attended this club meeting dressed up with festive beads and masks decorated with the traditional Mardi Gras colors: green, gold and purple. The information and the food provided at the club meeting gave the members a greater understanding of the Mardi Gras traditions.
