Senior Emily Miller crowned Miss McIntosh 2014
The Miss McIntosh scholarship competition, hosted by the Student Government Association, was held on Saturday, March 8, 2014 at 7p.m.
Seniors Katherine Gillanders and Tyler Dowse were the night’s emcees, and contestants included seniors Sammie Eskew, Emily Miller and Maddie Plant; juniors Shelby Bock, Kara Fulks and Jenane McCulloch; sophomore Simone Brown; and freshman Jade Allen.
Contestants competed in a judged interview on March 7, and on March 8, they ompeted in the Evening Wear, Onstage question and Talent portion of the competition
Sammie Eskew sang “Let It Go” from the Disney movie “Frozen.” Maddie Plant sang “Sunday Morning” by Maroon 5. Emily Miller sang and played her banjo to Bon Iver’s “Skinny Love.” Jenane McCulloch sang Barbara Streisand’s “Being Good Isn’t Good Enough. Shelby Bock performed her original song “The In-Between.” Kara Fulks tap-danced to Jason Derulo’s “It Girl.” Simone Brown performed a lyrical dance routine to a cover of “La la la” originally by Naughty Boy. Jade Allen performed a cheer, dance and tumbling routine.
Miss McIntosh 2012, Marguerite Murrell, performed Sara Bareilles’ “Stay.”
The contestants answered onstage questions such as “What is your biggest pet peeve?,” “If you could be invisible and go anywhere, where would you go?,” “What song on your Ipod would you be most embarrassed of if it came on shuffle?” and “What celebrity reminds you of yourself?”
Overall, freshman Jade Allen won “Most Photogenic.” Third runner up was junior Shelby Bock, second runner up was junior Kara Fulk, first runner up was senior Maddie Plant and senior Emily Miller was crowned Miss McIntosh 2014.
Of being crowned Miss McIntosh 2014, Emily Miller said, “It is such an honor to represent McIntosh as Miss McIntosh 2014. I am humbled and grateful for the opportunity.”
