The contemporary Christian band Casting Crowns played a free concert on Monday, February 3 hosted by Southside Church in Peachtree City.

The band has sold over five million albums and has won a Grammy for their album “Lifesong” in 2006 and has been nominated three times since, as well as being the recipients of 15 GMA Dove Awards along with countless other honors and accolades, including being one of the first U.S. bands to be invited to play in North Korea.

The band members Mark Hall, Megan Garrett, Juan Devevo, Melodee Devevo, Chris Huffman, Brian Scoggin and Josh Mix are ministers at Eagle Landing’s First Baptist Church in McDonough, Georgia where they lead worship on Sunday mornings and devote their time to working with the church’s youth groups.

At the concert, they performed some of their greatest hits since 2000 as well as introduced segments of songs from their latest album, “Thrive,” which was released on January 28. Their performance included the title track “Thrive,” “Broken Together,” “Just Be Held,” “Heroes” and “House of Their Dreams,” as well as playing old crowd favorites such as “Voice of Truth,” “Until the Whole Word Sings” and “Who am I.”

The songs on their albums deal with tough yet realistic topics, but frame them in a Biblical perspective. Of the album, lead singer Mark Hall said, “The basic idea is let God define himself through you and if you’ll do that, you’re going to thrive.”

The band will begin their 2014 tour on February 20 in Lexington, Kentucky and continue through 43 other stops, ending on September 6 in Lake Buena Vista, Florida at Walt Disney World.
