Three McIntosh students have established a foundation that awards $25 to the overall best middle school science fair project. The organization, which is not affiliated with McIntosh High School, is called F.I.R.S.T., which stands for Fayette Inovation and Research in Science and Technology; the students who founded F.I.R.S.T. are freshman Keaton Wimbish, freshman John Childers and freshman Kyle Ewers. The F.I.R.S.T. organization will award the prizes in honor of Mrs. Rae Presley-King, the former principal of Bennett’s Mill Middle School which Keaton, John and Kyle attended in eighth grade. She presented the award this year. Keaton Wimbish said, “I remember all the support that the group received last year as we headed to the state competition, so we want to encourage the other students to work hard and make great science fair projects.”
