One singer’s dream will soon be acheived with help of Chorus

Any member of the McIntosh choral department can tell you without a doubt who the most optimistic and kind singer of the department is. Savannah Manning, a senior and special education student, has been a dedicated member of the chorus since her freshman year. Savannah has been involved heavily in the fine arts, not only has she taken chorus, she also has taken drama classes. This year she is in Bella Voce, the advanced women’s choir. Bella Voce is extremely competitive to get into. It is much like a varsity level sport that requires outside of class practice and an audition based on talent and character.
Savannah’s talent shines. She is quick to memorize her pieces and sings them with excitement. Most impressively, Savannah has perfect pitch, a talent usually only gained to those who had studied music at a higher level for years. Perfect pitch means that if a note was to be played on the piano, Savannah would be able to identify what that note was. If you asked her to sing a G, she would be able to sing it on pitch without having to hear the pitch first. If you gave her a piece of music, she would be able to sing it in key without hearing it before.
Not only is she talented, but her character sets her apart from the rest by miles. Savannah won her class award for best choral singer for last year. You can tell that her passion is singing when she is on stage. She always walks into class and concerts with a huge smile on her face. Junior Naomi Sobel said of Savannah, “Her attitude is contagious. She is always so positive and such a light to the chorus.”
Out of the classroom as well, Savannah has a positive spirit. She can be seen at every home football game, decked out in green and black, and cheering on her chiefs.
This year, the chorus took a trip to Nashville. Savannah had always dreamed of going to Nashville and was absolutely ecstatic to hear of the field trip. Any one who has seen Savannah has also seen her famous pink (her favorite color) cowboy boots. Savannah loves country music. However the trip was expensive, and hard to afford for any average student. Savannah’s mother, however, didn’t give up, and with much help from the chorus, Savannah’s raised the necessary funding. Thanks to the generosity of her friends and classmates, Savannah got an experience that she will never forget.
