Golden Globes 2025
The 2025 Golden Globes occurred in Los Angeles, California on Sun., Jan. 5 at the Beverly Hilton Hotel. Red carpet coverage began at 6 p.m. EST, and the awards ceremony began at 8 p.m.. The award show, hosted by comedian Nikki Glaser, recognized some of the year’s best films and TV shows.
“As per usual, the Globes honored the best and buzziest TV shows and movies. The night’s biggest film winner was musical Emilia Pérez, while on the TV side of things Shōgun and Hacks reigned victorious,” according to the People.
Musical crime comedy Emilia Pérez took home eight awards from the Golden Globes, including Best Motion Picture–Musical or Comedy against Wicked, The Substance, and Anora. Despite the stir Emilia Pérez caused with its numerous wins, Wicked fans can rest assured that Wicked secured Cinematic and Box Office Achievement against Gladiator II, Deadpool & Wolverine, and countless other legendary films of the year.
“Also on the film side, Jacques Audiard’s “Emilia Pérez” had earned 10 nominations, the most of any movie, in categories ranging from acting, directing, writing and music. Its stars, Selena Gomez and Zoe Saldaña, earned acting nods while Audiard was recognized for directing, songwriting and screenplay writing. It won for best musical or comedy and best original song. Saldaña also took home the Golden Globe for best actress in a musical or comedy.” according to CBS News.
Historical fiction show “Shogun” won Best Television series, Drama at the Golden Globes against “Squid Game”, “The Diplomat” and various other big names, while “Hacks” won best Television series, Musical or Comedy against shows like “Abbot Elementary” and “The Bear”. Limited Netflix series “Baby Reindeer” took home Best Limited Series, Anthology Series or a Motion Picture made for Television.
“Shōgun” had a dominant showing in the TV categories,winning four awards, and the comedy “Hacks” won for best series and a Globe for lead Jean Smart. In the film categories, Demi Moore won her first Globe, while “Conclave” took best screenplay,” according to CNN.
Tom Holland and Zendaya are Engaged
Tom Holland and Zendaya are now engaged. The couple has been private about their engagement and the two have not made any type of official announcement, but “a family source confirmed” the pair’s engagement, according to People. At the Golden Globes on Sunday, Jan. 5, Zendaya was wearing a large diamond ring on her left ring finger. This led many to speculate whether the actress and singer was engaged to Holland. The two actors are known for their roles in the Spider-Man franchise as the main characters Peter Parker and Michelle Jones (MJ). The two have co-starred in Spider-Man: Homecoming in 2017, Spider-Man: Far From Home in 2019 and Spider-Man: No Way Home in 2021. According to CNN, the pair were confirmed to be a couple in July 2021.
During the event, a reporter asked Zendaya if she was engaged and “she kept showing her ring, [smiling] coyly and [shrugging] her shoulders mysteriously,” according to the Los Angeles Times.
Since then, there were reports of the pair being engaged, as this was coupled with Holland’s “plans to leave acting once he becomes a parent,” according to an article by NDTV, which dives deeper into this moment pulled from an interview with Holland on Men’s Health.
With the news now confirmed, the family source that confirmed the news with People provided details regarding any wedding plans for the couple. The source mentioned that Holland and Zendaya would be busy with their careers.
“They will just enjoy things for now and won’t rush a wedding,” according to People.
