Disney releases new film, “Zootopia.”

Abby Giordano, Staff Writer

Disney movies are becoming well known for their handling and their portrayal of real world issues. With films like “Big Hero 6,” and, “Inside Out,” Disney has been communicating messages such as how to deal with the grief that comes with losing a loved one.

“Zootopia” brings up an issue that is common in the world today: prejudice. The film carefully explains and portrays these ideas without forcing them on the viewers too much. The two main characters, Judy Hopps, the first bunny cop, and Nick Wilde, a fox, get the idea of stereotyping across on their own merits. With Judy initially being wary of Nick because he is a fox, viewers can see how she becomes more open to him and chooses to judge him on his character and not his species.

Junior Veronica Lyons said, “It was wonderful. I loved the film. I loved the message of the film and just the way the director handled the issue of stereotypes. I can’t wait to see it again.”
