McIntosh Drama Department’s latest show “Much Ado About Nothing” was performed May 1 at 7:00 p.m. Junior Gregor Haas, who played Don Pedro, said, “Much Ado About Nothing has been an interesting experience.”
The show is originally set in sixteenth century Messina, Italy, but Mr. Buswell, in order to help audiences better understand, adopted the classic Shakespearean play to a 1970’s disco club. The club was comically named “Wild Willie’s” after the playwright William Shakespeare.
In his set, Mr. Buswell had a DJ play “The Hustle” by Van McCoy, “Blame it on the Boogie” by The Jackson 5, and many more 1970’s hits. He also also attached lights and special effects, such as a disco ball and police lights to help give a club feel.
Sophomore Sophie Roggermeier said, “[Much Ado About Nothing] has been a really fun experience because we have a great cast. Our set look[ed] amazing and our costumes made by Ms. Clark [were] lovely. It’s a great show to end an unforgettable year with.”
