Mary Lambert's "Secrets" promotes self-esteem

Mary Lambert’s song “Secrets” was recently released. The song follows a similar message as the other “body love” songs that have come out this year. “Body love” songs are basically songs that promote being comfortable with yourself and your body, despite the judgment and standards that our society has made.

Another popular “body love” song is “All about that bass” by Meghan Trainer. The song has similar lyrics  but “Secrets”  divulges into the idea deeper. Lambert’s lyrics are more about her personality problems. In “Secrets” she goes over everything considered wrong with her and says “So what?”

She sings about no longer caring if the world knows her secrets and what she really is. The lyrics preach dispelling stereotypes set by society as well as no longer hiding the parts of yourself that you might not like.
