Parade of Lights finds its stride

“Don’t you want to risk it all?” With that rousing question, Parade of Lights transitions into the heart of its song “We’re the Kids” and listeners discover the newest intoxicating chorus in the alternative/electronic world of music.

Just last December, the band Parade of Lights was opening for Imagine Dragons. Now they are planning their own tour dates for their EP, “Golden,” released on March 25.

The EP is a combination of four electrifying songs (“Golden,” “We’re the Kids,” “The Island” and “Burn”) that the band considers to be “dirty alt-electro meets shoegaze rock,” simply meaning that their sound is a mix of electronic and indie rock (very similar to Imagine Dragons, with the same focus on easy-to-belt-out-in-the-car anthems).

The title track, “Golden,” was featured on NBC’s recent Winter Olympics television campaign and also on an episode of “American Idol.” The album’s second song, “We’re the Kids”was immediately picked up by SiriusXM’s Alt Nation radio station, making it one of the rare self-released songs by an unsigned band to quickly get commercial radio’s seal of approval.

Based in Los Angeles, the group has been building momentum since Ryan Daly and Anthony Improgo (on lead vocals and guitar, and drums, respectively) bonded over similar musical tastes in 2006. Daly and Improgo were in separate acts until they finally merged talents in 2010 and added Randy Schulte on bass and backing vocals and Michelle Ashley on keyboard and backing vocals in 2013.

Their first EP, “Born to Live, Born to Love,” was released in 2012 to modest success, but is still not available on iTunes.
