Americans embrace favorite Christmas songs
As Christmas season approaches, many people wonder which Christmas album to buy that has all their favorite classics.
Artists since the early 20th century have been releasing amazing covers of old Christmas songs and have been creating new ones, as well. Artists who you’d never think would make a Christmas album actually have; for example, Weezer released an album in 2008 called “Christmas with Weezer” that hit #25 on Rolling Stones Magazine’s “Top 25 Christmas Albums of All Time” list. A jolly Christmas, a Christmas jazz classic from Frank Sinatra, which hit #13 on Rolling Stones’s list, has been covered and remastered many times.
If you want an old rock spin on your favorite Christmas tunes, check out the Beach Boys’ Christmas Album, which ran #7 on Rolling Stones’ list. A new 21st century Christmas song that has hit the charts is Mariah Carey’s “All I Want for Christmas is You,” which has been covered by many great artists such as Michael Buble and Lady Antebellum.
Whichever genre one prefers, there are Christmas albums from each decade that will fit your liking.
