This past weekend, January 12-13, band students who made the first cut of the All-State competition performed for the judges in order to make the second and final cut.
In order to make the first cut, students had to play the first E-tude that is specific to their grade and instrument. Along with that, they had to play assigned scales and a chromatic scale.
For the second round, they played the first and second E-tudes and two sessions of sight reading. It was held at Houston County High School.
Congratulations to Luke Anders, Rachel Anders, Kevin McCullough, Jenane McCullough, Emily Schuler, Nicole Young, Jesse Hu, Julie Lim, Chad Lott-Howton, Sarah Oso, Sue Liang, Kevin Kwon, Austin McKeand, and Imara Vliegan; they will be performing in Savannah at an upcoming date. McIntosh High School had the most students to audition for the second round out of all the schools.

What about our Chorus and Orchestra students? They do the exact same thing and their’s is harder!

Thanks for your response, Chris. We’ll certainly try harder to do a better job covering chorus and orchestra. (As your English teacher, I feel it’s my duty to tell you that there should be no apostrophe in their’s–I can’t help myself =)
