Students read “Fences” play

The AP Literature classes read August Wilson’s “Fences” in class during the week of Jan. 16.

The Advanced Placement Literature class is reading the play “Fences” currently.  The “Fences” movie has been nominated for many awards, such as Best Picture, Best Actor and Best Supporting Actress at the Oscars and multiple awards at the Golden Globes, as well.

Senior Michael Wilson said, “I love the play because I can see how almost 40 years later the play is still applicable to society.” The play spans many different social groups and is heavily praised as a literary success among literary critics.
