Spanish Club hosts year’s first meeting
The first Spanish Club meeting of the year took place on Thursday morning in the senior cafeteria. Members were treated to Publix donuts and juice as plans for the year were discussed. The purpose of the club is to engage in activities designed to enrich student understanding of Hispanic cultures and languages.
Spanish teachers Theresa Togneri and Maria Wells are the club sponsors. Officers are seniors Gabby Aku and Brandi Jarvis (co-presidents), junior Jessica Bell (vice president), senior Nina Mbonu (secretary) and junior Michael Carroll (activities coordinator).
The club plans to meet about once a month in the morning. Longer events will take place in the afternoon.
Those interested in signing up for Spanish Club should see Mrs. Togneri in room 94.1 or Mrs. Wells in room 118. Dues are $15 which includes a shirt. Interested students must also fill out an information sheet with contacts (phone and email), other club/extracurricular involvement, t-shirt size and ideas for future club activities.
