Winners stand on podium to receive medals for the boys 3200 meter race at the State Championship.

Track athletes who qualified during the regional and sectional track meets competed at Carollton High School in the GHSA State Championship on May 12.

On the boys team, sophomore Zach Jaeger and junior Vladi Zander-Velloso ran in the 3200 meter race. Vladi finished 9th overall with a time of 9:58, and Zach finished 5th with a time of 9:50. Also on the boys team, senior Caleb Padolski finished 2nd in high jump with a height of 6’5″.

On the girls team, freshman Megan Uszynski finished 5th in the 1600 with a time of 5:11 and also finished 2nd in the 3200 with a time of 10:56. Also, freshman Kayla Rose finished 2nd in the 800 with a McIntosh school record of 2:17.

Head coach Jason Newton said after the meet, “I’m extremely proud of how well our athletes performed and am thankful that I got to coach them. I’m already excited for next season because I know we’ll only get better.”
