Chiefs win round 1 of the Battle of Bubble

Varsity Girls and Boys beat Starr’s Mill on January 12.

The Lady Chiefs started out strong but couldn’t stop the Lady Panthers offense for much the game. They trailed for most of the game by a couple points until senior Gabby Seiler sparked a 12-0 run for the Chiefs. The Lady Chiefs won their game 37-33.

The Chiefs and Panthers were tied for most of game. With freshman Jordan Lyons hitting a three at the buzzer, the two teams were tied at 28 at half time. The Chiefs led 43-38 at the beginning of the fourth, but the defense couldn’t hold the Panthers’ offense. With a help of a freshmen Will Washington, however, the Chiefs were able to tie the game at 58 to go into overtime. Overtime went back and forth between the Chiefs and Panthers, but Lyons hit the game-winning freethrow with .06 seconds left in the game. The Chiefs won 68-67.
